What is Pink?
.jpg)
by Christina Rossetti
Sometimes colors seem like magic to me. Pinks, blues, greens, violets--I could look at them all day! This is one of my favorite books. It's very old and very beautiful. The poem was written by Christina Rossetti, who lived a long time ago, in the 1800s. In this poem, she asks questions about each color, and answers them with simple, lovely images. Here's the first part of the poem so you can see what I mean for yourself.
What is pink? a rose is pink
By the fountain’s brink.
What is red? a poppy’s red
In its barley bed.
