Thud's Books
Lisa in New York

by Anne Gutman
Illustrated by Georg Hallensleben
Knopf 2002
I love spending time in the big city. All the noises, different kinds of people, and skyscrapers. It hurts my neck to look up at them too long, but wow, are they big!
That's why I like the book Lisa in New York, because you get to see all sorts of big city things with Lisa. Her uncle Harrison takes her to see the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, and Times Square. If you have never heard of these places, don't worry, the pictures will show you how wonderful they are. And then maybe one day, you can go see them yourself!
There is a scary part in the book when Lisa can't find her uncle and is all alone in the city. Once I lost my friends Ladybug and Muddle in the middle of a crowd before, and I had to stand on my tiptoes and yell out their names really loud until they heard me! But Lisa says, "I'm no baby," and boy, is she brave. She knows just what to do.
I know you will like this book as much as I did. I give it a Thud thumbs up!
