This is the perfect wintertime story to read in a big, comfy chair, preferably with a slice of pie nearby. Nanuk is a young polar bear who yearns for adventure. His biggest dream is to fly--although everyone tells him it's a silly dream, being a bear and all. At the beginning of the book, Nanuk and his mother have wandered far from home looking for food. They become so hungry they decide to go into a human town to find a snack. Have you ever seen a polar bear wandering through a grocery store? Well, you will in this book! Since humans don't want polar bears around, Nanuk and his mom have to go to the Polar Bear Jail. I won't tell you the rest, but Nanuk's flying dream isn't as far off as you might expect.
