I knew I had to read this funny book about an elephant who gets split into two pieces, since I myself am part elephant and part bug. One night the world divides in half, and all of the animals get split into two pieces, too! Elephant really misses his back half, but decides to try out being half a worm, half a chameleon, and half an alligator. None of these things really work for him, but he has a lot of adventures figuring out what to be. Look closely at the illustrations in the book--the artist uses different objects from the world, like wood, nails, wires, and even drinking straws. It's fun to try to name all of the things the pictures are made out of.
