I think Emma's turtle and I could be quite good friends. We are both brave explorers who want to see the world but we also like being home with our friends.
In this book, Emma is a little girl who reads her turtle lots of books about faraway places like India and Australia. "One day I tell myself to stop dreaming and go," says Turtle. So he goes on a journey that he thinks is farther away than it really is. In fact, he never leaves his backyard!
BUT, Turtle still has an adventure. When he sees a striped tabby cat, he believes that this is a tiger in India. Poor Turtle! He even makes a new friend--a beetle, like me!
The ending of the book made me smile, because Turtle finds his way back to Emma. It's always good to come home after a long journey to your friends, and eat your favorite foods again. Turtle eats strawberry slices, but I would much prefer extra spicy noodles.
