Petit, the Monster

Isol
Groundwood Books, 2010Petit, the little boy in this book, cannot decide if he is bad or good. Petit can be a very good little boy who tells wonderful stories and plays nicely with his dog. But sometimes he is a bad little boy who pulls girls’ hair and doesn’t share his toys. “How can such a good boy sometimes do such bad things?” his mother asks him.
Petit is very confused. Is he good, or is he bad? “Am I some kind of not-yet-discovered type of monster?” he asks himself. At the end of the book, he has a great realization. You’ll have to read it to find out. You might even see a little bit of yourself in Petit the Monster!
